Adjunct therapies
are additional treatments used in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments.
These therapies enhance the benefits of your chiropractic plan of treatment
and speeds up the recovery process.

Muscle
Stimulation |
This
modality uses a form of gentle, safe electrical stimulation to muscles that
are tight and painful. This stimulation causes the muscles to twitch slightly
during treatment, but causes the muscles to be relaxed by the end of the
treatment. By relaxing these muscles adjacent to the spine, the vertebras
are allowed to move more freely, which helps to relieve pain and nerve irritation. |

Ultrasound |
This
modality uses sound waves at high frequency to aid the healing process in
areas of injury. Specifically, its effects are to generate deep tissue heat,
relieve swelling, break up areas of toxic waste products accumulation, and
relieve pain with deep micro-massing vibration. The combined effect of all
these actions is to relieve pain and promote rapid healing. |

Motorized
intermittent traction places gentle stretch on the spine to separate the
vertebrae and relieve direct nerve pressure. It also takes the stress off
the discs between the vertebrae. This stretching effect of the disc creates
a suction action and lets the disc absorb more blood and healing nutrients,
thus allowing it to heal more quickly. Traction is most often used on the
neck and low back. |

Laser
Therapy |
This
is the use of a cold laser beam to treat an injury to a soft tissue such
as a ligament, tendon or muscle. A low intensity laser beam reduces pain,
inflammation and swelling and promotes healing of damaged tissue. It works
by increasing the flow of blood and by reducing the production of prostaglandin,
which is a chemical released in response to an injury that causes pain and
inflammation. |

Color
Therapy |
Color
therapy is the use of color in assisting the body's' natural ability to
balance itself. Practitioners of the healing arts have used color for centuries.
Color serves to support our vital life force by supplying light energy to
the body.
There are seven rainbow
colors used in this therapy, plus 2 additional colors of Aqua and Magenta.
Each color corresponds to a particular area of the body as well as a particular
state of mind. These areas of the body with which color is associated
are called Chakras. Chakra is a Sanskrit word, meaning wheel. Chakras
are the spinning focal points of energy in the body. Their function is
to receive, process, and transmit energy, which affects the physical,
emotional, and subtle energy levels of the body.

Orthotics
correct deficiencies caused by a functional difference in leg length, and
foot pronation which interferes with biomechanical function of the pelvis
and spine, when treated with an appropriate custom-made orthotic it will
stabilize biomechanical functions of the body. |
